Newport Rangers 16-17

Excellent interest has ensured we are able to field two teams at U12 level for the 2016/17 season (Rangers and Eagles). Rangers possess an insatiable energy, enthusiasm and desire to play the game in the right way.

The team has quickly established some vital characteristics for the new season. Teamwork, togetherness, friendship, positivity and enjoyment are all clearly evident during both Friday evening training sessions and Saturday morning matches. The girls have established a wonderful spirit and camaraderie and without question, the future is very bright.

As team Manager, I am committed to providing the right environment in which the girls can develop, achieve and flourish both as players and individuals. The ultimate measure of our success being to count the number of smiling faces. The more the merrier, and then everyone’s a winner!

I am both delighted and privileged to be working with such a fantastic group of girls, and I truly hope it will be a season we can all reflect upon fondly.

The girls…..

Maggie (#1): It’s fair to say that the goalkeepers’ role is often overlooked, but make no mistake about it; Mags has unquestionable ability and a developing character that makes her the perfect fit for the job between the sticks. Mags is an agile shot stopper with a great attitude.

Charlie (#2): A calm, skilful, and highly capable newcomer to the squad. Charlies possesses a wonderful temperament and provides excellent balance to the team. A solid defender with great positional awareness.

Libby V (#3): A key component in the Rangers machine with proven goal scoring credentials. Libby possesses a relentless appetite to take on anyone regardless of size, along with lightning pace and stamina which belies her years.

Sadie (#4): A cultured and skillful member of the team who is comfortable with either foot. Sadie is assured on the ball and is the perfect fit in defence with a terrific turn of pace.

Sophie (#5): A brave, honest, and hardworking member of the team who loves a tackle. A super 2015-16 season and signs of a repeat this campaign.

Mollie (#6): A versatile and gifted newcomer who is comfortable on either foot. Mollie possesses silky skills and has unquestionable goal scoring potential. Molly is a real asset to the squad who is able to operate in either defence or midfield.

Leah (#7): A dynamic and incredibly competitive member of the team with a relentless energy and determination. Leah is a fine example of what can be achieved through chasing so called lost causes. Leah is a wonderful striker of the ball, and has an uncanny ability to net in spectacular fashion.

Grace S (#8): A commanding rock of a defender who is comfortable on either foot. Grace is fantastically composed on the ball and has outstanding ability to read the game and snuff-out danger. Coaches’ player of the season for 2015-16.

Libby C (#9): Libby is another defensive colossus within the Rangers squad. Brave as a lion and lighting speed across the ground. Libby is an effervescent, larger than life character who is phased by no one on a football pitch.

Rebecca (#10): A ferocious competitor in the middle of the park with excellent ball control and distribution capability. Becca has proven goal scoring ability and is a sensational dead ball player. Parent’s player of the season for 2015-16.
